5 things to look forward to in 2016

Many people suffer from the dreaded January blues. I find a great way to combat this is to look at the positive things that will be happening in 2016. I’m just over 6 months into my Apprenticeship and looking forward to the next year and a half. Here are my top 5 things to look forward to in my Apprenticeship this year:

  1. Getting to know more young people! Surprisingly enough, training to be a youth worker, my favourite bit of the job is… working with young people! I have already met many wonderful young people and I’m excited to get to know many more.
  2. The Apps 4 England Conference. This is being held at the Emirates Stadium (fancy!) in London on the 25th and 26th February. Both myself and my colleague Kieren are attending and are on the panel of apprentices!
  3. Running more workshops in schools. Currently I’m the co-ordinator of events and I’ve been meeting with schools to put together bespoke packages and workshops surrounding Apprenticeships. I’m really pleased with the work that our team is doing and we’ve had great feedback. It seems that word is getting out and more and more schools are contacting me. Great!
  4. The Apprenticeship Graduation Ceremony on 8th July at St Andrews Hall,  Norwich. Although it won’t be me graduating this year, our team organises this event. It was a great evening last year with apprentices beaming with pride as they collected their scrolls. I’d only just started my Apprenticeship, yet I was up on the stage, helping out!
  5. Having some well-deserved time off! Although I love my job, it’s also important to have time off to relax and unwind. I’ve a couple of adventures planned for this year. It’s so important to get the right work and personal life balance.

I’m sure there will be many more exciting opportunities and surprises in store. So, if January blues are getting you down, try to think about the good stuff to come.

Happy New Year! Here’s to a great 2016!
